美國第一家庭度假計畫一公佈遭到多人反對，民眾認為，此時美國正面臨恐怖襲擊和外交危機，絕非總統歐巴馬休閒娛樂的好時機。但顯然，反對聲並未影響第一家庭的度假計畫，今日（美國時間11日），歐巴馬以自己最愛的高爾夫運動開始，拉開了總統為期一周的休閒度假序幕。
歐巴馬於昨日下午抵達麻薩諸塞州高檔度假勝地瑪莎葡萄園島（Martha's Vineyard），接下來的1周，美國第一家庭都會在此度過。
假期的第1天，他就在耐克農場高爾夫球俱樂部（Farm Neck Golf Club）待了5個多小時，和幕僚尼柯森（Marvin Nicholson）、白宮主廚卡斯（Sam Kass）、財經顧問沃爾夫（Robert Wolf）一起打球。打球過程中，他一邊專心打球，還偶爾對守候在旁的媒體擠眉弄眼，擺Q姿態逗記者。
據悉，歐巴馬早前也曾多次赴瑪莎葡萄園島度假，不過這是他第一次借住芝加哥友人舒爾特（David Schulte）在島上的豪宅。在歐巴馬結束高爾夫球後，將與夫人蜜雪兒（Michelle）相偕到法式海鮮餐廳「甜蜜生活咖啡店」（Sweet Life Cafe），和朋友共進晚餐。
白宮表示，歐巴馬度假期間不打算公開露面，不過每天都會聽取國安與國內事務簡報。
