潭美颱風的影響仍持續，北北基在8時確定22日上班上課，目前確定停班停課的縣市只有連江縣，而根據氣象局預測，潭美將在22日凌晨解除陸上颱風警報，但下雨的天氣會持續至23日。
根據氣象局在晚間9時15分的偵測，9時的中心位置在台北外海北北西方120公里處，最接近台灣的時間已過。目前仍以時速25公里的速度前進，向西北西直線前進。暴風圈仍籠罩中部以北地區。
氣象預報中心課長陳怡良強調，南部地區的雨量應在這個時候急速累積，也就是說，豪雨才剛開始。另外，他同時強調，因21日碰上大潮，加上外圍環流影響，不宜接近海邊或從事海上活動，沿海居民也須慎防海水倒灌。即使解除海陸警，外圍環流仍會為陸地帶來雨勢，到23日皆是有雨的天氣。
目前，西半部地區與東部山區有豪雨發生的可能。東北部山區與花蓮、台東兩縣的山區與外島也可能出現豪雨。台中梧棲已出現過10級陣風，中心過境的彭佳嶼更曾出現16級陣風。
目前整個北部地區（新北市、台北市、宜蘭縣、桃園縣）皆發出超大豪雨警報，其餘部分中部地區（臺中市、南投縣、雲林縣、彰化縣、嘉義市、嘉義縣、臺南市、高雄市、屏東縣）也發布超大豪雨警報。在5時左右，南投縣出現明顯風雨，6時以後，所有南部縣市應都會有大風大雨。
