歐巴馬總統周二讚揚兩黨的預算協議是良好的第一步，並敦促美國國會迅速通過根據此一協定的預算法案。

「今日的兩黨預算協議，是良好的第一步，」歐巴馬在發布的聲明中說。「我要呼籲兩黨的國會議員，採取下一步行動，通過根據此一協議製定的預算，而後我就可以簽署，使之成為法律。」

歐巴馬對這項協議的內容亦表示讚揚，他說部份取消全面自動減支，將能減緩對經濟成長的拖累。他稱這是一項平衡措施，因為增加了政府收入，也包含不會傷害經濟的削減支出。

他對宿仇已久的民主黨與共和黨，各退一步，避免了導致10月政府關門與2011年幾近違約的堅持已見，表示肯定。

「這項協議並不包含我喜歡的每一項目，我知道許多共和黨議員亦有同感，」他說。「但國會民主黨與共和黨議員能夠合作，打破短視並引發危機的決議模式，完成這項協議，是一項良好的訊號。」
